The Christian Muslim Forum
The Christian Muslim Forum is built on friendship between a group of Christians and Muslims, showing how faith is a catalyst for good relationships and welcomes the 'other'. This friendship began with a small group of Muslims and Christians working on the Archbishop of Canterbury's Initiative in Christian-Muslim Relations. This grew from Archbishop Carey's comments in 1997, "For the sake of the health of this country, we need to find ways in which members of our two communities can meet regularly together in a more structured way than has been possible up to now." His remarks were received warmly and positively by leaders of the Muslim community, leading to the Initiative's Listening Exercise between 2002 and 2004. http://www.christianmuslimforum.org/

www.faithnetsouthwest
All about faithnetsouthwest we aim to...
faithnetsouthwest supports faith groups engaging in social or community activity in the South West region.
Working at a strategic level, we help faith groups to be heard regarding the issues that concern them and their communities.

We help faith groups to establish links with other organisations which can help them achieve their goals.

faithnetsouthwest supports the participation of all faith groups and communities and respects the distinctive contribution of each, encouraging people of faith to work together, and with others, on community matters.

At the core of our work lies the principle of bringing people together to develop understanding and help create stronger communities and neighbourhoods

faithnetsouthwest was formed in April 2005 by a partnership of four faith-based organisations in the South West region: the Churches Council for Industry and Social Responsibility (ISR), based in Bristol and Swindon; the Exeter Diocesan Council for Church & Society; the South West Council of Faiths; and the South West Churches’ Regional Forum

Our main aims and objectives are to:

support all churches and faith groups engaging in social or community activity in the South West region
help faith groups and regional bodies involved in these activities to share information on good practice and share this information with funders and policy makers
help faith groups and local and regional bodies to reach a better understanding of one another
support existing forums and develop networks where the distinctive voices of the faith groups in the region can be heard.
faithnetsouthwest is managed by the Reverend Heather Pencavel who is also the South West Churches Adviser for Regional Affairs and the Faith representative on the South West Regional Assembly. It employs two development workers Alistair Beattie and Clare Mortimore who are working to make contact with a wide range of church and diverse faith representatives to establish support needs and opportunities for working together. The organisation also employs two part time administrators. faithnetsouthwest’s major mapping of faith groups in the South West region will shape much of its future work and help form priorities for the continuing support of faith group capacity to serve communities across the South West. http://
